The Heavenly Trio Kick Their Way to the Top
by Barbara Fletcher
It's time to say a fond farewell to Farrah,
Kate,
Jaclyn,
Shelly,
Cheryl,
and Tanya: the ever-elusive
Charlie has hired a new trio of Angels, and they are ready for 21st century crime-fighting.
The long-awaited film Charlie's Angels
opened in theatres across Canada on Friday, November 3.
The feathered hair,
orange Ford Pintos,
and tube tops that we watched on T.V. from September 1976 until
August 1981 have fallen by the wayside and been replaced by spandex, high-speed machines, gold mesh
bikinis, and high-tech gadgets.
And the plot? Alongside the bumbling Bosley (Bill Murray),
the Angels must save Eric Knox, the soon-to-be
billionaire who has been kidnapped from his office at Knox Technologies -- and then rescue Knox's
secret identification software that could mean disaster in the wrong hands. The Angels go
undercover, following their only lead: Roger Corwin (Tim Curry), who owns Red Star Systems.
Natalie (Cameron Diaz) is the Chicago-born,
milk-and-cookies, girl-next-door: bookworm and driver's ed superstar.
Dylan, played by Drew
Barrymore has been a stripper, boxer, firefighter, and bounty hunter.
Lucy Alexis Liu
(of Ally MacBeal fame) plays Alex, the elegant, hard-as-nails, and lethal-handed
adventurer.
Viewers can also expect appearances by Crispin Glover, Luke Wilson, and Tom Green.
The ecclectic soundtrack includes tunes by Destiny's
Child, Deee-lite,
Marvin Gaye,
Apollo
Four Forty, and
Spandau Ballet.
To commemorate the ressurrection of Charlies Angel's, T.V. specials and personal Webpages
are popping up everywhere.
You can also find a complete Episode
guide of the T.V. series.
