What Luxury Items Are the New Survivors Bringing?
by Barbara Fletcher
If you had to be stranded in the Australian outback with 15 strangers, what one item would you bring
to remind you of home (or your sanity)?
Would it be a photograph, an instrument, a hygiene item?
Viewers of the first Survivor show may remember that each contestant was allowed to bring
one luxury item onto the island. Survivor I winner
Rich
chose to bring along a journal -- and look
where it landed him: he ended up a million dollars richer and an international celebrity.
Survivor II's Administrative Assistant
Amber
is hoping to follow in Rich's footsteps by bringing a journal and pen.
Some stranger luxuries
But some of the other luxury items for the Survivor II cast seem a little less, um... practical.
Take, for example, the custom auto designer Colby.
He is bringing a big ole Texas flag. If he doesn't use it as protection from the elements, at least I guess
it will remind him of his home town: Dallas TX.
Chef Keith
will be twirling a paella
pan. And Actor Jerri
plans on banging her bongos. Remember ukelele-strumming
Sonja --
how long did she last on the island?
Looking sexy for the snakes?
Four of the Survivors have chosen to bring something to improve their attractiveness. Could
our contestants be hoping for future film careers, perhaps?
Alicia
is bringing a brush, Maralyn
is bringing lipstick, and
Debb
the corrections officer is bringing
eyeliner.
At least they'll look good for the kangaroos, crocodiles, and funnel-web spiders.
Adopted Canadian and most-favoured-to-win Kel
is perhaps the smartest of all. Packing a shaving
kit complete with razor and blades, he might just be able to use his luxury item to help him
survive.
From immunity hopes to general amusement
Two other contestants have chosen to bring something specific to the Survivor theme:
footwear designer
Elisabeth
will be sporting an immunity head dress she has made for the occasion, and software distributor
Michael
is lugging along some war paint.
Other items include a colouring book and crayons, a Frisbee (just like Survivor I's Greg), a song
book, and a Bible.
As for games,
Tina the nurse is bringing along a backgammon set,
and bartender Kimmi
is bringing along a copy of Scrabble. Hopefully these games will relieve the monotony
of being chased around by poisonous snakes or sampling the island's assortment or
hallucinogenic
mushrooms.
