Survivor Episode 11: Bye Bye Amber
by Barbara Fletcher
And here some of us thought that we had this whole Survivor thing figured out,
and then Amber gets the boot.
Why on earth did they gather at Tribal council -- cold, wet, starving, and snivelling --
and decide to vote off the least threatening member of the Barramundi tribe?
Perhaps it was delirium. Perhaps it was a judgement clouded by the utter despair
of our dear Barramundis.
After all, the cowboy barbeque reward challenge (won again by the biggest, strongest,
and least-likely-to-blow-away-in-the-wind Colby) must have left a bitter taste in the
mouths of the rest of the tribe.
And, to make matters worse, when they dragged their starving bones
back to camp, they were greeted by a swollen river and a half-washed away camp
missing clothes, possessions, and rice rations.
That's gotta hurt.
The decision to vote off Amber could also have been an effort to remove all traces of the
evil Jerri by ousting her yes-ma'am sidekick.
Who knows. But c'mon. Amber?
Someone has to realize soon, that you have to pick off your strongest competitor.
And keeping your friends around you will just make it harder to vote them off in the
end.
