Survivor Episode 12: A Tearful Farewell to Rodger
by Barbara Fletcher
I've got to stop watching Survivor. It's affecting me emotionally.
Last night I spent half the show with tears rushing faster down my cheeks than torrential rainwater
filling up a dry creek bed.
Watching the gaunt and tired bodies of the Survivors shuffle their way through the past few weeks
has been difficult enough. But with this past Survivor Episode -- where each tribe member has the opportunity
to chat with loved ones via the Outback Internet Cafe -- I realized just how much
CBS is really tugging on the heartstrings.
Seeing "Bessy" (Elisabeth) cry openly through her interaction with her family, "baby" Colby snivel
though a chat with Mom, and "Carrots" Keith proposing to his girlfriend "Peas" -- it was all just a
little hard to take.
And with Rodger's sniffly chat with his proud wife still a fresh memory, his departure from the
group at Tribal Council (nobly effected by Rodger himself in order to ensure Elisabeth a cut of the
cash) was downright depressing to watch.
For Survivor 3 product placements, CBS should consider Kleenex in addition to Doritos, Mountain
Dew, and Visa.
There's just a few weeks left, and I'm at the point now where I want them all to win. Just split
the million four ways and be done with it.
And let the poor, shrunken, starving, depressed, and lonely people go home for goodness sake!
